Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Manager of Inflight Instructional Design impacts PSA Airlines’ operations by overseeing the design and development of the Flight Attendant learning experience and will prepare each crewmember to support PSA’s mission and to provide value to our customers. This role will create effective learning solutions and ensure the production of detailed designs to increase the operational readiness and safety effectiveness of our crew members.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and collaborate with the Inflight Design Specialist and Learning Development team to design and support the implementation of learning solutions designed with the adult learner in mind, supplying regulatory content and learning methods in an innovative manner.
  • Develop, implement, and revise the Flight Attendant training curriculums.
  • Identify, read, understand, and contextualize highly relevant learning content and regulatory requirements and presents this back to the learner in a way that is easy to understand and to navigate.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Inflight Standards and Delivery to ensure consistent application of all training curriculum.
  • Work closely and collaborate with the Manager Inflight Standards and Delivery in the development and implementation of Inflight training programs in accordance with PSA’s Flight Attendant Training Manual (FATM), selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the training situation.
  • Consistently apply a set of standardized leading practices, processes, and technologies to streamline, improve the quality, impact and cost-effectiveness of our learning projects and programs.
  • Work with the Manager of Inflight Standards and Delivery and subject matter experts (SME) to identify and evaluate possible learning solutions and select the most appropriate ones to capture and shape content into innovative learning.
  • Coach and provide leadership direction, motivation, and supervision of the Inflight Design Specialist.
  • Submit to the Assistant Director of Inflight Training and Standards revisions to the Flight Attendant training curriculums reflecting changes in FAR’s and company policies and procedures.
  • Explore alternative training techniques, equipment, programs etc. to assure programs are current and effective about industry standards.
  • Manage facilities and equipment assigned to flight attendant training.
  • Represent the company with government, industry and communities in activities related to training.
  • Conduct Flight Attendant training courses and deliver curriculum in cases of an Air Ground Transportation Instructor absence.
  • Provide technical support associated with maintaining courses in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Responsible for the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Specifics

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experienced leadership position.
  • 3-5 years related work experience designing in a complex organization.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements (CFRs, TSRs, DOTs, security directives).
  • PSA Flight Attendant experience, or the ability to obtain certification as a PSA flight attendant.
  • Good communication skills (written and oral).
  • Computer literacy and strong Microsoft office skills.
  • Ability to speak/read/write in English.
  • If hired, must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the U.S.  

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in Adult Learning, Instructional Systems Design, or Instructional Technology.

Additional Information

Delegation: In absence, responsibilities delegated to Assistant Director of Inflight Training and Standards. 

Authorities: None

Supervisory Responsibility: This is a supervisory position.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb up and down stairs; lift weight up to 25 lbs; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Security Clearance: All employees are required to pass the fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRC) per 49CFR1542.209 as well as a pre-employment drug screen.
