Responsibilities

Position Summary

 

This position is responsible for leading, managing and providing oversight of Maintenance Operations Control team. Primary obligations consist of ensuring that aircraft maintenance events are optimally managed, ensure chronic aircraft are identified and mitigated to minimize downtime and costs, oversee timely accomplishment of Technical Action Plans, ensure on time departures for our customers, structure Maintenance Operations Control team and culture to provide superior customer service, ensure the PSA fleet of aircraft are compliant with all maintenance requirements, operate with appropriate deferral restrictions and aircraft are returned to service expeditiously in an airworthy condition. 


Job Responsibilities

  • Assist and support the Vice President of Technical Operations and other senior management in projecting a strong commitment to the uncompromising promotion of safety and regulatory compliance.  
  • Continually assess the organization’s mission critical requirements, explore operational opportunities, devise improvement action plans, and incorporate as required.   
  • Lead, operate and instill an intense focus on aircraft maintenance execution efficiencies to expedite repairs, expect accurate estimated time of completions (ETICS) to reduce AOS times and return aircraft to service.  
  • Establish a Command & Control but collaborative team culture for the Maintenance Control teams.  
  • Collaborate with Technical Services and Engineering to ensure chronic aircraft and extended out of service aircraft are efficiently returned to service with successful first-time fix.  
  • Ensure compliance with all PSA required policies, practices, procedures, and processes.  
  • Develop, communicate, and implement strategies to meet near and long-term initiatives to maximize fleet availability and improve operational performance levels.
  • Conduct organizational needs analyses, collaborating with business unit leaders, and recommend proposed solutions to meet business challenges.  
  • Collaborate with Curriculum Development and other business partners to improve the department’s Learning and Development Programs to strengthen skills and competencies, while driving an ongoing culture of learning and development.   
  • Process CASS Notice of Noncompliance (NNC) and CASS Corrective Action Report (CCR) for all Maintenance Control related noncompliance events.  
  • Maintain proactive and ongoing awareness of industry trends and developments as well as functional best practices.  
  • Learn, adopt and apply Lean methodologies to Maintenance Control functions and other Lean processes and continuous improvement.  
  • Leverage technical expertise in development of methods and practices to minimize aircraft out-of-service time and fleet deferral rate.  
  • Develop and maintain organization performance metrics and dashboards.   
  • Create and provide various technical reports and data packages as requested to track performance of Maintenance Control Department.   
  • Manage the successful delivery of projects and initiatives using an effective balance of internal and external resources.   
  • Knowledge of and ability to design, implement and monitor organizational strategies related to employee productivity, budgets, and systems.   
  • Control costs to maintain departmental budgets.  
  • Evaluate technical support base and collaborate with Maintenance Production and Planning to expand capacity and locations.  
  • Ensure departmental communications are timely, factual, and meeting the needs of the business.

  • Responsible for the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.

Position Specifics

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree in aviation maintenance management or related field.  
  • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.    
  • At least five (5) years’ experience within the last eight (8) years leading teams within an aircraft maintenance organization.  
  • Experience with performing aircraft maintenance and repairs in accordance with Part 121, 129, 135 or 145 regulations. 
  • Extensive experience working in Maintenance Control.   
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software. 
  • Strong communication and verbal skills. 
  • Ability to speak/read/write in English.   
  • If hired, must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the US.

Preferred

  • Previous experience with Maintenix utilization.   
  • BS degree in Aviation Maintenance Management or related field.

Supervisory Responsibility: This is a supervisory position.

Work Environment: This job operates in an airplane. This role will occasionally use standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.
