Responsibilities

Position Summary

 

This position is responsible for the overall short-term and long-term strategy for all internal/external communications and external marketing activities of PSA Airlines, a wholly owned regional carrier of the American Airlines Group. This individual will oversee the development and execution of communications and marketing strategy to support the carrier’s operational objectives and key focus areas. This individual will report directly to the VP of Talent Management and work directly with PSA Airlines senior leadership and executive team on internal communications activities for employees and, external audiences such as media during crisis or emergency response activities and internal/external talent acquisition marketing and branding strategies.


Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and management of the company’s internal/external communications strategy, vehicles, and channels, including quarterly updates on operational initiatives; at events such as Virtual Town Halls, D+ meetings, Executive offsites, and all other modes of communication
  • Drive strategy and oversee external media releases, executive speeches, and communications on company issues and announcements, to ensure employees have information necessary and helpful for their engagement in their work and company initiatives
  • Oversee the internal and external marketing strategy of the airline, focusing specifically on the Talent Acquisition marketing focus areas for specific critical hiring needs
  • Develops branding initiatives, external media relations, and continually maximizes social media opportunities in the regional market
  • Continually works to know the regional market landscape for competitive branding purposes
  • Develops ongoing key in touch marketing strategy campaigns in collaboration with PSA’s Talent Acquisition team
  • Continually identifies, learns, and adapts to new technologies for external and internal marketing and communications, such as CRM tools, website vendors, new marketing platforms; works to assess the ROI of these tools to form a basis of marketing impact
  • Works with necessary vendors or new vendors to enhance PSA’s branding messaging, continually seeks out new vendors where there is a business need
  • Responsible for the strategy and integration of all marketing and branding approaches at PSA
  • Provide counsel on the company’s communications activities with department and company leadership in support of their corporate objectives, and to ensure employees across the company know that they valued and appreciated
  • Works directly with the CEO/President of the organization when critical media relations and crisis communications arise
  • Has responsibility for the Company’s Intranet portal to ensure it provides a useful, efficient, and enjoyable user experience to both management and non-management for purposes relating to their work and work-related interests
  • Executes on PSA’s comprehensive crisis communications strategy and protocols within the framework requested for all carriers, providing PSA Airlines communication statements
  • Owns the relationship with American Airlines team on crisis communications and media relations
  • Leads the strategic direction of PSA Airlines leadership and communications meetings, driving change and impact for operational objectives and results
  • Responsible for the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and company

Position Specifics

Qualifications


Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or equivalent work experience
  • 5-8 years of experience in communications
  • Prior experience working with multiple workgroups strongly desired
  • Advanced Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Solid understanding of how to write AP style
  • Ability to effectively work with and counsel senior leadership to achieve their operational and organizational goals
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Develop and implement communication strategies and tactics with a diverse range of audiences
  • Results-oriented and able to work both independently and on a team when needed for larger communications initiatives and in crisis situations
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy, while possessing the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment is essential
  • Exercise sound business judgment and handle confidential information with sensitivity
  • Ability to speak/read/write in English.
  • If hired, must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the US.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.
