Position Summary


The Communications Manager is responsible for managing all communications and activities of PSA Airlines, including the development and execution of communications plans and tactics to support the airline’s strategic objectives and vision. This role works directly with PSA Airlines senior leadership and executive team on internal communications activities for employees and external audiences such as media during crisis or emergency response activities and other company-specific activities. The Communications Manager collaborates with the American Airlines communications team to ensure PSA Airlines team members receive the information and messaging they need to help grow and cultivate the PSA Airlines culture and brand.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee the development and management of the company’s internal communications strategy.
• Lead the communication team to develop initiatives and measurable objectives that drive the PSA culture and brand through internal communications, engagement and external media relations.
• Ensure all communication issued from the company align with company messaging and tone.
• Develop and oversee execution of internal and external communication plans across a variety of channels.
• Collaborate with department leaders to plan, launch, and assess specific business objectives and tailor the approach to communicate to their audience.
• Collaborate with Marketing organization to ensure consistent messaging across internal and external brands.
• Participate in corporate meetings to discuss communications strategies and develop talking points for executives and senior leaders.
• Formulate speeches for senior executives that are to be used in high-level meetings as industry experts.
• Ensure all corporate messaging aligns with key business strategies and strategic messaging by overseeing news items and internal content to launch successful campaigns.
• Identify media and press opportunities, nurture media relationships and maximize media opportunities.
• Provide guidance on the overall editorial content calendar for both internal and external communications.
• Drive the success of the company’s Intranet portal to ensure it provides a useful, efficient and enjoyable user experience to both management and non-management for purposes relating to their work and work-related interests.
• Develop and, if needed, execute a comprehensive crisis communications program and protocols within the framework requested for all carriers providing PSA Airlines branded service.
• Participate in PSA Airlines leadership and communications meetings and communicate information back to the communication team as needed.
• Provide ongoing feedback on communications activities and show measurable results.
• Participate as needed in meetings with American’s communications team for larger initiatives for their regional network. Serve as the PSA Communications liaison for American Airlines larger communication initiatives.
• Drive and support labor communications as needed including communications strategy development and content creation.
• Responsible for the Company’s Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs
• Other projects as assigned
• In absence, the Director of Communications and Development will handle the delegation of duties.



• Five+ years of experience in communications.
• Advanced Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills
• A solid understanding of how to write AP style
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or equivalent work experience.
• Prior experience working with multiple work groups including levels of senior leadership
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to speak, read and write in English
• If hired, must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the US

Additional Information

Supervisory Responsibility: This position is not a supervisory role

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.
