Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Director of In-flight Services influences PSA’s safety and efficient administration of in-flight activities, establishing successful career succession within the operational pillar of the department. Responsible for driving the strategic vision of the in-flight personnel.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assuring that the highest standards of safety, compliance and customer service are met by all members of the in-flight operations.
  • Oversee the in-flight services department including the management of facilities, flight attendants, administrative personnel and their related activities.
  • Responsible for the department’s safety performance, operational performance and contractual compliance
  • Responsible for in-flight department communication to Flight Attendants regarding company policies and procedures
  • Ensure that service, performance, appearance standards and budget objectives of the department are met.
  • Responsible for development and implementation of in-flight departmental policies, procedures, goals and objectives that support the PSA vision and mission.
  • Responsible for establishment, evaluation, and administration of all standards of work performance, appearance, dependability, attendance, conduct, service and safety consistency for line Flight Attendants
  • In collaboration with Labor Relations, communicate with labor groups to ensure a common approach to standards of safety compliance, customer service and to ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Coordinate with Federal Aviation Administration on cabin safety issues.
  • Establish, support and maintain the collective bargaining agreement, between AFA and the company through collaboration with Labor Relations and union representatives
  • Responsible for making recommendations for the flight operations capital and capital operating budgets
  • Responsible for meeting all operational goals associated with the in-flight services group.
  • Support safety risk management processes within Flight Operations that support the principles of the Safety Management System (SMS) and this policy manual.
  • Develop and implement strategies communicating company goals and department performance requirements to all department personnel
  • Supervise, train, monitor and assess staff member performance
  • Represent PSA at industry conferences and meetings
  • Work collaboratively with all Air Operations Directors
  • Work closely with Regional counterparts and senior leaders of Flight Service
  • Other projects as assigned by the Vice President of Air Operations

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required

  • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Five years in-flight management experience with a Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) 121 certified carrier
  • Seven years of in-flight experience
  • Ability to interpret and enforce FAR applicable to flight attendants
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office applications.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb up and down stairs; lift weight up to 25 lbs; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Security Clearance: All employees are required to pass the fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRC) per 49CFR1542.209 as well as a pre-employment drug screen.
